To be honest, I first joined Facebook when I turned 13 years of age and was particularly excited because I thought that it was the beginning of something new for me. What I did not know is that there were many surprises in store for me on the site/ app.
Facebook, according to me, is a nice and reliable app in terms of communication and sharing ideas with people all over the continent but, some people always know how to stun others to an extent that cannot be described.
There are other apps/sites that men tend to do that as well. There are so many that I cannot mention all of them but, can give you some few examples such as video calling apps, dating apps, messenger apps and many more.
Have you ever received a video call from anyone online that you had just accepted his/her friend request? If you are female, what mostly happens after you have received it? I bet there’s a high chance that the first thing you see is a man showing off his manhood or when you open your inbox you don’t lack any message that doesn’t contain images or videos you did not expect to receive.
I won’t lie that social media did not teach me anything, most especially when it came to differentiating the sizes and colours of the magic wands which belonged to different people of various age groups. I was traumatized for a while but got used to it because no matter how hard I tried to avoid such situations; I would always end up receiving gifts in my inboxes.
Do not get me wrong, I don’t have any issues with men. I am just concerned because social media has taken over everyone including young kids who are the most affected when it comes to this topic. Take me for example, I engaged myself in social media activities from a very young age that’s true, but what about those who are years younger than I was? Most of them tend to register accounts online and lie about their age and get preyed upon in the end.
There are a lot of child predators out there and apart from them, there are sites that contain contents that a child should not view. I advise everyone who has or lives with kids in his/her home to be wary of this. Children get to learn many new things in social media that may affect them heavily.
If you know people who do that, please urge them to stop or do whatever they are doing privately in places or sites that won’t affect today’s young generation.

Such do happen. But I will add this
ReplyDelete1. One should be able to know their worth that will help so much to develop yourself in terms of having appreciate approach when such happens. It's close to cyber bullying.
2. Make sure you are keen when it comes to kids and the exposures we share with them. It really means a lot since their brains is still small and it's growing let's not it's foundation be based on bad exposure.
Thank you Charlene for that piece am proud you talked about it though people ignore it kama "kitu ya kawaida" as the say goes.
Was wondering what was this 'magic wand?' But thanks for posting this out since it has enlightened me on how I should raise my kids from these predators in the near future. Thank you
